About the Adventure Guide
Hi, I’m Tom — the Adventure Guide and hunt creator behind Redmark Treasure Hunts.
I design real-world treasure hunts that blend puzzles, stories, and outdoor discovery. My goal is simple: to guide you on adventures that spark curiosity, challenge your persistence, and reward your imagination.
My interest in treasure hunts started when I was a young boy—long before personal computers, video games, or the internet. It was a time when kids were told, “Go play outside and don’t come back until dinner.”
So how did we fill the time? With imagination and camaraderie! My friends and I created our own adventures— we created "secret clubs" and created secret passwords and handshakes, puzzles, ciphers and codes, and treasure hunts for the club that sparked hours of entertainment and excitement.
Years later, I discovered a treasure hunt sponsored by Islands Magazine. I solved it… but just a week too late, as someone else claimed the prize first. That thrill pushed me to design my own treasure hunt, where I buried three gold coins in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and tried selling the treasure map through newspaper want ads. More recently, I was drawn into Byron Preiss’s The Secret Treasure Hunt, especially since one of the unsolved treasures might still be hidden in Golden Gate Park.
Now I'm retired and a proud father of 2 amazing children, as well as a wonderful daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren. My only responsibility is to enjoy life by cultivating fun for my family, friends and any others I can. For me, creating treasure hunts is my outlet for creating adventure, curiosity, and discovery. Now, through Redmark Treasure Hunts, I hope to pass that spirit on to you—so you can experience the same sense of wonder in the chase for treasure.
